Agent/booker
An agent or broker is the contact person who gets the models jobs.
Blow-up
A blow-up is an enlargement photo from a slide or negative.
Call time
The call time is actual time the model has to be at the location.
Casting
The call time is the scheduled time for the reharsal and preparation for the fashion show, pictorial, or commercial.
Client
A client is anybody who hires a model.
Commission
The commission is the amount of money the agency cuts from your talent fee/budget (i.e. your talent fee is P10,000, you agency will get P2,000 to P3,000, 20 to 30%).
Contact sheet
A contact sheet is a page showing shots from the same roll of film.
Contact numbers
Contact numbers are your telephone numbers as well as your pager number, cell phone number, and may include other contact information such as email.
Extra
An extra is a job where the actor/actress has no speaking lines. All they do is just stand around in the background.
Fitting
A fitting is when a model tries on clothes to determine fit and style. It is usually done a couple of days before a fashion show or commercial.
Freelance
A freelance model is a model that does not have an agency representing them.
Fullbody
Fullbody means from head to toe.
Go-see
When a models goes to see the client, it is called a go-see.
Headshot
A headshot is a photo of the face and the head.
Lines
Lines are words to be spoken in a commercial, hosting job, and etc.
Makeup artist
A makeup artist is the person who applies and changes the model's makeup for fashion shows, photo shoots, and commercials.
Setcard/composite card
A setcard or composite card is a 1 or 2 page brochure featuring photographs
Portfolio/book
A portfolio or book is a collection of photographs and tearsheets in a clearbook type plastic held together by a casebook or binder(look for an artist portfolio). An ideal portfolio would be 8x10 or 11x14. This is something the model would show to prospective clients.
Print
Print is a photograph printed in a magazine or newspaper.
Proof
A proof is the early stage of photo development. A proof is used to choose the best poses.
Take
A take means that rehearsals are over and that the next sequence will be recorded.
Talent fee/budget
Talent fee/budget is how much the model is going to be paid for a job. Also sometimes called TF.
Tearsheet
A tearsheet is a models work from a magazine. You tear out your picture.
Shoot
A shoot can mean a photo shoot, commercial, or movie. A location shoot is a shoot out of town.
Storyboard
A storyboard is the artwork that shows each scene of a commercial. The director uses this to explain the scens to the model or models.
Stylist
A stylist is the person who coordinates the clothes and accessories during a photo or commercial shoot.
Transparencies
Transparencies are slide forms of a photograph.
Vitals/stats
Vitals/stats are a models measurements.
VTR
VTR is short for Video Tape Recording. A VTR is done when a model auditions for a commercial.
